3 months

WOW! 3 months...

At 3 months Olivia continues to love to smile!  She is the happiest baby.  Every morning when she wakes up I go in, get her, and we sing our "good morning" song.  She looks right into my eyes and just smiles and smiles.  It's the most precious thing ever and one of my very favorite times of day!

Olivia is now 12 lbs. 4 oz. (50th percentile) and 22.5 inches long (25th percentile).  She loves to lie on the floor under her ocean gym and play.  She also loves her weekly play dates with Kellan.  It's so fun to see these two interacting with each other. On most days she likes to be wrapped up in the Moby and go for walks, but still no stroller rides yet.   She is so aware of everything around her.  When we go on our walks she looks all around and takes everything in.  It seems to be very soothing to her because she almost always falls fast asleep.

She has a strong grasp and likes to hold on to me when nursing.  She also makes a tight fist and likes to suck on it.  She has begun letting out a few little sweet laughs now and then and LOVES to talk.  It's absolutely precious listening to her talk back to me.  (I'll have to re-read this when she is a teenager.)  She had her first x-ray this last month to check on her tummy, and she also began sleeping in her crib.  It was a VERY difficult transition for me, but easy for Olivia.  She loves sleeping in her crib, and sleeps extremely well during the night (5-10 hours).  The only problem is that she hasn't really been napping.  She takes short little 5-30 minute cat naps through the day, but I guess you can't have it both ways.

Every day is a blessing with this little girl.  I love this perfect little family!  She has brought so much happiness and joy into our lives.  I'm so thankful I've been able to stay home with her.     

Olivia's Baptism

Sunday, October 9 we all joined together at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Snoqualmie for Olivia's Baptism.  Zach and I joined this parish about five months ago.  I love that it is a small parish and reminds me of Immaculate Conception where I grew up attending church and where Zach and I were married.  I also love that they have tons and tons of events and activities for children. 

Olivia wore Emily's baptism dress and was baptised in the shawl my grandma Bernie made for us when we were baptized.  My brother, my sister, me, all of my sister's kids, and Olivia have all been baptized in this shawl.  Olivia looked beautiful and was absolutely perfect the whole time.  It was a very memorable day.

It turned out to be a great day!  We all had a great time celebrating God's love and our love for one another.  I love my family and was so happy they were there to share in this important day of Olivia's life.

Happy, But Sad Momma...

My good friend Tiffany let us borrow her rock n play for Olivia to sleep in when she was born.  This is is a definite must have for any new mom.  Olivia LOVES this thing and it has been awesome!  It's light weight, and so easy to carry to any room in the house or to my mom's when we visit. 

However, the reason for this post is that she has outgrown it. She's too long for it and kicks the bottom waking herself up. So... last night she slept in her crib for the first time.  It was a bittersweet moment.  Most nights when she was in the rock n play she ended up sometime during the night sleeping on me, which has been killing my lower back and causing me to get no sleep.  She also is a very loud sleeper.   She talks in her sleep and makes grunting noises all night long keeping me up.  It's the cutest thing you ever heard, but as any mom knows, anytime your little baby makes a noise you wake up.  So, I'm happy that she'll be in her crib, not sleeping on me, but I'm so sad that our little girl is not going to be in our room anymore.  I have a video monitor and can watch her and hear her, but it's not the same.  It felt so strange not having her in our room last night. (Of course I didn't get any sleep because I was so worried about her.)  She did pretty well though.  She woke up a few times, but slept straight from 4-8 am and I finally got some sleep. 

Play Dates

Last week while Grandma Emily was visiting we scheduled a play date with cousin Ava and her mommy Rachel.  Todd and Rachel, my cousins, live in Auburn.  I was so excited to find out that they only live about a half hour from us.  Ava is 8 months old and is the cutest thing!  Her and Olivia had a great time, while the adults enjoyed some "momma time".

Baby Ava had tons of hats and headbands that she had outgrown.  Rachel was so generous and gave us a ton of them.  This one is one of my favorites!  It's so soft, cozy, and warm.  It's perfect for winter!

My good friend and teaching teammate, Tiffany comes over almost every Tuesday and brings me lunch.  I know, I'm SO spoiled.  We enjoy our "momma time" and she fills me in on what is happening at Briarwood.  Her son Kellan is 10 months old and is the best tempered baby I have ever met.  He is always so happy.  Olivia and Kellan don't know it yet, but they're parents have already arranged their wedding.  I believe Zach offered Tiffany a goat and Patrick a case of beer as marriage gifts. 

This week I finally remembered to get my camera out and get some pictures of them playing.  Aren't they just precious?!

Kellan decided he liked Olivia's blankie better than his and snuggled up on it.

A few weeks at home

Olivia has still been having tummy troubles.  Her tummy troubles coupled with the fact she does not like to ride in her car seat have kept us at home for the last couple of weeks. I am filled with joy everyday and am enjoying my time home with her.  I am so amazed at how big she is getting and how much she is changing.

She is such a happy baby!  She has begun smiling several times a day and always smiles back at me when I smile at her.

She does really well with tummy time, and loves to play on the floor by herself.

She is so strong.  She lifts her head up and holds it up for a good 5-7 seconds before letting it fall.
