Welcome Hazel Grace Mitchell

Hazel Grace Mitchell was born Wednesday, April 29 at 8:51 am. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz and was 20.5 inches long. As she was born her eyes were wide open looking around at this new world that surrounded her. She never made a peep. Daddy cut her umbilical cord and Mommy got to hold her right away. We were so lucky to have our AMAZING Douala, Marnie, and a wonderful team at Swedish, including our OB Catalina Bernal-Schmidt who I would highly recommend to anyone.

Auntie Anne, Emily, Jack, Charlie, Grandpa Jim, Grandma Patti, Auntie Mary, Josh, and Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell were all in the waiting room anxiously awaiting to find out if this new member of the family was a girl or a boy. Zach announced the sex using a girl and boy onesie. (Grandma Emily and Olivia stayed at home. The night before Olivia had been running a 103 degree fever so she was not allowed to be at the hospital.) They anxiously awaited our arrival the following day.

She was completely covered in vernix when she was born, which is really good for baby's skin. At Swedish they don't bathe the baby until the following day. They take a very natural approach in delivering and how they care for the babies after delivery. We LOVED it there!

Daddy changed her first diaper!

Olivia and Grandma Emily were so excited to meet Hazel the next day when we brought her home.
